- Sometimes, cases are first reported in one county and then moved to another county. As a result, the cumulative number of cases may change for a given county.
- New York City is composed of five boroughs: The Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island. Each borough is coextensive with a respective county of New York State. The boroughs of Queens and the Bronx have the same border as the counties with the same names. The other three boroughs consist of counties with different names (borough name/county name): Manhattan/New York County, Brooklyn/Kings County, and Staten Island/Richmond County.
The COVID-19 data for the five bouroughs is aggregated into a single report for New York City in the table below. However, for census and other statistical purposes, the five counties are tracked in an identical fashion to the other 57 New York Counties.
- On May 6, New York state reported a significant uptick in deaths due to the inclusion of new data on nursing home and adult care facility deaths dating back to March 1.
