NOTES
  1. Sometimes, cases are first reported in one county and then moved to another county. As a result, the cumulative number of cases may change for a given county.
  2. New York City is composed of five boroughs: The Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island. Each borough is coextensive with a respective county of New York State. The boroughs of Queens and the Bronx have the same border as the counties with the same names. The other three boroughs consist of counties with different names (borough name/county name): Manhattan/New York County, Brooklyn/Kings County, and Staten Island/Richmond County. These 5 counties have a Census Class Code of H6. This code identifies, "A county that is coextensive with an incorporated place, part of an incorporated place, or a consolidated city and the governmental functions of the county are part of the municipal government.". For census and other statistical purposes, these five counties are tracked in a manner that is identical to the 57 other New York Counties that have an H1 Census Class Code.
  3. On May 6, New York state reported a significant uptick in deaths due to the inclusion of new data on nursing home and adult care facility deaths dating back to March 1.
